Dr. Manisha Thakkar

I firmly believe that “new possibilities arise from impossible tasks.”

I have been residing in Chandler and practicing as a Pediatrician in the East Valley for the last twelve years. My dream of being a pediatrician came with challenging obstacles, but my keen desire to be advocate for kids in the community and bring awareness to families about children’s medical (physical, emotional, and environmental) well being has motivated me to achieve my goals. My vision to educate parents, providing all necessary resources under one roof, has encouraged patients and their families to follow the philosophy “We care, Be healthy, Be Happy.” Having innovative ideas and actually implementing them in the practical world has been my drive for successful class events and workshops. To name a few past events: baby massage, talking tips for tots, CPR classes, dietary habits for kids and nutrition. I volunteered as an educator for expecting moms at baby stores, provided my services to patients at Chandler Care Center for uninsured kids, educated children at school on career day, and supported Sunshine Acres. In addition to patient care, I have enjoyed teaching and providing clinical rotation experience to medical students, MA students and NP students. I continue to be a preceptor for University of Arizona medical students.

I grew up in Mumbai, India and graduated from BVMC Pune, India. Opportunities, experience and my desire to be a fun, resourceful community pediatrician has made me and my family move to several states in the US like Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. I completed my residency training at Devos Children Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI – affiliated with Michigan State University. After completing my internship and residency training, I joined a private practice in Monroe, Michigan. I served the community by providing inpatient and outpatient care. In 2006, I moved to the East Valley and joined Desert Pediatric Hospitalists group. In 2008, I became self-employed and offered my services as an outpatient Pediatrician to many East Valley pediatric offices and owned my own practice.  I am a proud mom of a 20 year old son, Kunal, a 13 year old girl, Riya, and a rescued 10 year old mini poodle, Jade. I enjoy my hobbies with my kids. How? I practice my photography skills while watching my daughter’s dance performances, acting skills for Theatre and my athletic son’s soccer and basketball games. I try to find time to go biking, dancing-Zumba, Bollywood workout and love to paint and sketch. I hope to take at least 1 vacation a year with my family to explore different parts of the world and have my kids experience a flavor of life outside their comfort zone.
